On Our Third Birthday.

A year ago today, I wrote the story of how Lamplight Media came to be. As I can’t do that again on our third trading anniversary, I thought it best to update on how the business has progressed over the past 12 months.
A Home.
The most obvious change to 12 months ago is the fact we now have a place to call home. Our office on Tannery Business Park, next to Tannery Film Studios in Woking, Surrey, has been a fantastically productive centre point for business operation. The site setting is lovely, the WIFI extremely fast, and the community very welcoming. 12 months ago, Callum & I spent many hours inefficiently driving equipment & hard drives between each others’ houses. It became untenable. Many business owners we spoke to advised against investing in office space, citing it as a huge waste of money. It couldn’t be further from the truth for us. Nothing makes me happier than seeing our edit workstations, connected to our local server, hard at work to meet deadlines extending off the end of the post-production tracker whiteboard. Or being able to host visitors or clients on the edit review sofa to run through things in person.
Keeping Busy.
The second major development has been the regularity of work. Whilst still not fully maxed out, on the whole we always have multiple projects on the go. At peak times, we’re out shooting 2-3 times a week. There have been a few times where we’ve run 2 (once even 3) shoots on the same day, with multiple crews, simultaneously. Plenty of room for more though.
Bigger & Better Offering.
The third is the diversification of our service offerings. 12 months ago, we classified our services as ‘photo, video, drone.’ We still offer these same core ingredients, but now with greater experience in the pre & post depts, we have split the service tree in two:
