Launch Campaign - SmoothR

Project Brief

SmoothR is a UK-based tool and community for driving enthusiasts & racing drivers alike that measures their driving prowess through Sir Jackie Stewart’s ‘smoothness’ school of thought. They came to us to create a multimedia launch campaign centred around F1 race winner Johnny Herbert testing the product at Brands Hatch race circuit in Kent. The goal of the campaign was to create ‘whisper’ and ‘shout’ assets for SmoothR socials & website, in order to position the product as a community driving enthusiasts need to be a part of.

Deliverables

  • Hero 2min landscape 16:9 ‘JH brand film’ for website & email campaigns.

  • 3x 15sec vertical 9:16 ‘whisper’ reels for Facebook, Instagram, & TikTok.

  • 1x 45sec vertical 9:16 ‘making of’ BTS UGC reel for Facebook, Instagram, & TikTok.

  • High-gloss 100-image photoset showcasing live-action moments of the SmoothR device in performance cars, Johnny Herbert interacting with the SmoothR, plus product imagery with Brands Hatch as the backdrop.

Production

  1. Pre-production took place in October-November 2024. We created the script, call sheet, & shot list documents; plus booked Brands Hatch, arranged drone permits, & a press car from Honda UK.

  2. Production took place on a cold November day at Brands Hatch. We deployed a team of four comprising three cinema camera packages, one photographer, two GoPros, & one drone package. We captured imagery on the start-finish straight, Paddock Hill Bend, and on an autotest course in the paddock; rigging an Audi R8 supercar and a Honda Civic for this purpose.

  3. Post-production saw all deliverables edited in-house and shared with the SmoothR executive team for revisions & distribution.
